Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities with regards to transit.
The U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration (FTA) works to ensure nondiscriminatory transportation in support of the mission to enhance the social and economic quality of life for all Americans. The FTA Office of Civil Rights is responsible for civil rights compliance and monitoring to ensure non-discriminatory provision of transit services.
More information about this may be found on the FTA's ADA webpage.
Further details about building code standards for transportation facilities covered under the ADA may be found in our Toolkit for Architects and Contractors.
