ADA Training Sessions

The Northwest ADA Center provides trainings to groups on general and specific topics of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Our staff have experience explaining ADA rights, protections, requirements, and responsibilities to diverse audiences, including employees, professional associations, high school students, and community groups, to name a few. Whether in-person or virtual, our trainings are designed to make the ADA easier to understand and to use to promote accessibility and reduce disability-based discrimination. Our trainings are modestly priced, and we can sometimes waive our training fee. All training sessions include time for questions and answers at the end, as well as opportunities for interaction and discussion of real-world experiences.

Available Trainings:

ADA Foundations

This course provides an introduction to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We will review the ADA's purpose and disability definition, as well as its general requirements. Key concepts include non-discrimination, reasonable accommodations, effective communication, barrier removal, and program access.

Service Animals

This course will define service animals under the ADA, provide guidelines for front line employees, and an overview of the rights and responsibilities of service animal handlers. In addition, a review of other laws governing service animals will be discussed.

ADA Accessibility in the Workplace

This course defines disability under the Americans wtih Disabilities Act (ADA) and provides an overview of employement rights and responsibilities. Key concepts include reasonable accommodations, effective communication, essential job functions, and medical documentation. In addition, we discuss service animals in the employment context and non-discriminatory hiring practices.

ADA for State and Local Governments:

This course will discuss the purpose and spirit of Title II of the ADA and provide an overview of the requirements for state and local governments. We will examine key concepts such as effective communication, reasonable modification, and program access.

ADA for Businesses:

This course will be discuss the purpose and spirit of Title III of the ADA and provide an overview of the requirements for public accommodations. We will examine key concepts such as effective communication, reasonable modification, and service animals. In addition, this training provides practical guidelines for front line employees.

Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability: Accessibility of Web Information and Services of State and Local Government Entities (new)

This course will overview the recent DOJ web accessibility rule, implementation of deadlines and considerations, content covered and not covered by the rule, developing accessibility guidelines, complicane expectations, evaluating accessibility, and ideas fro moving forward.
