CANAR Mourns Dr. Gerrie Hawkins

CANAR is saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Gerrie Hawkins, Senior Policy Analyst with the National Council on Disability.  According to a post from NCD, Dr. Hawkins passed peacefully Tuesday at home from a brief, progressive illness.  

For those who worked with Dr. Hawkins, we know the heart and love she had for ensuring American Indians with disabilities were included in the national discussion of disability employment policy.  It was impossible to work with her and not see the light and determination in her work.  We will miss our friend and wish her family healing as they mourn the loss of this special lady.
