New Award Honors Legacy of the AAPR Founding Board Member and Lifelong Disability Rights Advocate, Don Juan Diego Tenorio Brandon
WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 24, 2014) - The Association for Airline Passenger Rights, (AAPR) today opened nominations for its inaugural "Don Brandon Air Travel Accessibility Leadership Award," which honors the legacy of its late board member. As a founding board member of the organization, Don Juan Diego Tenorio Brandon worked tirelessly to improve air travel accessibility for passengers with access and/or functional needs. The award will recognize an individual, academia, community, government, nonprofit, military, corporate, or business leader who is working to improve accessibility guidelines, practices and standards in all aspects of the aviation and travel industry.
The Award winner will have:
•initiated, managed or expanded aviation accessibility to passengers;
•collaborated with other aviation/disability stakeholders ; and
•ensured the sustainability of accessibility guidelines, practices and standards.
