Course Description:
This webinar will focus on the who, what, when, and why to engage schools and family members in vocational planning process for transition aged youth.   The presenters will also incorporate how to include the whole team in successful seamless transition from school to work.  Participants will learn about Person Centered Approaches for schools, students, and families.  The presenters will provide examples of transition planning and how to incorporate both school and family input while developing a Individualized Plan for Employment.  Participants will leave this training with tools and resources to use immediately in their work.

Presenters
Jenny Cavarno is a Program Coordinator for FACT Oregon, The Parent Training Information Center for Oregon, where her primary focus is families with transition age youth. She also participates in meetings at the state level sharing her perspective as a family member and is a graduate of Partners in Policymaking Oregon. is the mother of three children. Her eldest son experiences a development disability. Jenny’s son, Christian, received an extended diploma in 2014 and is currently receiving transition services from his local school district and is also working in competitive integrated employment. 

Heather Lindsey is the Secondary Transition Liaison for Oregon Department of Education.  In this position, she provides technical assistance to school districts, parent organizations, and participating agencies to support to ensure a solid understanding of secondary special education.  Before joining the Department of Education, Heather was a Counselor Specialist for Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation.  Heather has also worked as a Rehabilitation Counselor in the state or Oregon and Missouri.
